The path and the choice we choose and the decisions that we take today always reflect in the future that we envision for ourselves.This decision has immense significance on the future and at the same time taking this decision is a problem for most students. For this, we must first find our inner calling, for working on one’s passion is another way of saying chasing success in life. Nobody can tell you what you have to do, that is one thing that you must decide for yourself.
We can only make the best of what we have and these are few of the career choices one can take up after one finishes up with the school. In our country we offer three streams to our students in class XII and some options have been listed for each of them:
- Science Graduates: Engineering, Medical, Architecture and BSc in sciences like physics or chemistry or even computer architecture are the most sought after career choices. The Option to shift streams is also available for students studying this stream. Engineering may be a great choice for you if you have an analytical mind and look to solve the problems and love to innovate new technologies; If your inclination is towards research then BSc & engineering in Sciences is the way to go for you; If you want to save lives then Doctor is the right profession for you; If you are good at building and designing then perhaps a career as an Architect is for you. The options are all there, choose wisely based upon your talentand passion.A career in IT industry, hospitality sector, architecture firms, manufacturing sector, entrepreneurship, college or school professor are some of the options that one can pursue after opting the above mentioned courses.

- Commerce Graduates: Options of Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, BCom, BBA, BMS are the options that are most populous and most popular as well. Subjects such as economics, accounts and business studies which are taught in the commerce curriculum prepares the students for the challenges that the graduate courses will offer. If the numbers and balance sheets speak to you then Chartered Accountant is the way to go; If you want to study art of management then BMS is the course you must opt for; If you want to pursue commerce and research or do an MBA in post-graduation then BCom is the one that you should opt for. This is your choice, make it on your own merit and succeed at success. Career in banks, investment firms, running a successful business or college or school professor are the some of the major options that one can pursue after following above mentioned courses in graduation or post-graduation.
- Humanities Graduates: The humanities offers subjects such as history, political science, languages, sociology, psychology, performing arts and lots more like these, this curriculum sure does gets interesting. Pursuing BA in any of the subjects or being a Psychologist, Counsellor, Economist, Market analyst, Sociologist, Social Worker, Historian, Anthropologist, Writer/journalist/Editor, lawyer, Media Personnel, School Teacher/College Professor/ or even the choice of being a politician are open to these students, opting for civil services is another lucrative option that many students opt for. Make the Decision that suits you, choose what is best for you and find yourself enjoying the career you make.
The above career choices were limited to the particular stream and there are some alternate career options that students of any stream can follow. Career in performing arts like singing, dancing, film editing etc., fashion, field of law, government jobs in banking or public works sector, armed forces, NGO’s, entrepreneurs are lucrative options for anybody with a knack for these skills. Career as professional singers or dancers, in film industry, in fashion, in law or government jobs are the options that you can opt for.
These are some of the common career options but it is not necessary to follow these options only, in today’s world one is not limited by the stream that they choose and can easily switch to others. Don’t forget your passion, follow it in your career and the success won’t ever evade you.
